Solidarity Gardens: Empowering Rural Communities through Sustainable Green Spaces

The Solidarity Gardens project is a project funded by the EU that aims to empower communities in rural areas by creating and maintaining sustainable green spaces that serve both environmental and social purposes. These community gardens will act as hubs for ecological restoration, social inclusion, and education.

This initiative specifically addresses key challenges such as deforestation, climate change, and rural depopulation, fostering solidarity and sustainability through hands-on action.

The project started in December 2024 and will run until December 2027. During these three years, we will be hosting 80 volunteers, each volunteering group during 2 months,

This project aims to promote environmental sustainability and local food production through the development of community gardens. Our goal is to train young people and local communities in sustainable agricultural practices and encouraging a production model based on seasonality, proximity, and responsible consumption.

These gardens will not only contribute to the regeneration of green spaces but will also serve as centers for learning, social integration, and community participation - bringing people together through ecological farming and sustainable food practices.

To keep this project thriving long-term, we’re building strong partnerships with local, national, and international organizations. We’re linking up with agricultural pros, sustainability advocates, and passionate foodies who can bring fresh knowledge, resources, and visibility to our initiative.

The volunteers that participate this project, live with us for 2 months and take part in daily activities and hands-on workshops on:

Gardening fundamentals
Traditional seed cultivation
Sustainable practices
Cooking and food preservation
Spanish and English language skills
Intercultural nights
Sports and outdoor games
Art and music sessions and much more :)
